Bonners Ferry truck driver uninjured; pickup truck driver found by police

HAYDEN — About 3,000 gallons of liquid fertilizer were spilled on U.S. 95 following a crash Wednesday, April 29.

The Idaho State Police report the accident occurred about 11:20 a.m. three miles north of Hayden.

Michael Riebli, 63, of Bonners Ferry, was driving northbound in a semi pulling a trailer with tanks, ISP said.

The semi was cut off by a Dodge pickup truck that was turning right onto U.S. 95, causing Riebli to veer off the road into a ditch to avoid crashing, ISP said.

The tank broke off the trailer and spilled about 3,000 gallons of liquid fertilizer onto the road and ground. The lanes were blocked for a little more than two hours.

Riebli was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.

The suspect driver of the truck involved in the crash drove away from the scene but was located later.
