Hospital’s annual Health Fair is going online

| May 7, 2020 1:00 AM

Every year for decades, Boundary Community Hospital has held a Community Health Fair and Fun Run during National Hospital Week.

“It is something that people look forward to, where they can receive health screenings, visit with local healthcare providers and vendors, find out the latest information about services available in the area, and visit with friends and neighbors,” Lauren Kuczka, BCH marketing director, said. “Even though we won’t be able to gather in person, the hospital’s team has decided to hold a virtual health fair.”

BCH will be holding the tomato and pepper plant sale that benefits the Extended Care Facility Resident Activities Fund on Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until they are all gone) in the Outpatient Services parking lot. (Look for the tent filled with plants and flowers.)

The plants are grown locally with an eye to the area’s growing seasons, the plants from Eden Landscape and Environmental Design are always a hit with the neighbors, Kuczka said.

“Some of the peppers from years past that were grown by the residents in their special raised garden beds have earned Best of Show ribbons at the Boundary County Fair,” she added.

The sale will be accepting cash or check only at time of purchase.

Unfortunately, the health fair will not be able to offer any health screenings this year (blood pressure, glucose checks nor Lab coupons for Lipid and A1c testing), Kuczka said. In addition, the fun run has been canceled but will be back next year, she added.

Kuczka said officials hope the community will be curious enough to visit the Virtual Health Fair exhibits from their own special places starting May 8 through May 31 at boundarycommunity hospital.org/virtual-health-fair/ or follow the link on the BCH home page.

There’s lots of information with links to videos, articles, and brochures. Or if residents wish, they can use the “Contact Us” form with some exhibitors to ask questions or request more information.

“Stay safe and well,” said Kuczka. “You can count on the Boundary Community Hospital team to be there when they are needed. Caring for our community, every day.”
