America, a virus and the power of prayer
Such a time as this.
“America is engaged in a fierce battle against a very terrible disease. Throughout our history, in times of challenge our people have always called upon the gift of faith, the blessing of belief, the power of prayer and the eternal glory of God. I ask all Americans to join their voices and their hearts in spiritual union as we ask our Lord in heaven for strength and solace, for courage and comfort, for hope in healing, for recovery and for renewal.” — President Trump*
May 7 was our National Day of Prayer. This is a small part of it.
Vice President Pence commemorated this National Day of Prayer at a White House service. He recalled that prayer is the core of what runs through our American History. President Lincoln said, “the united cry of the nation will be heard on high and answered with blessings….”
Pence then urged constant prayer. “Now more than ever it is time to pause and pray consistently. We pray for those with severe consequences of this virus as well as all the nurses, doctors and health care workers.”
Karen Pence, quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people will humble themselves and pray…..I will heal their land.” Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that he is God.” Also, Psalm 62:8 “Trust in Him at all times, Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge.”
It ended with The Spirit of Faith Christian choir singing God Bless America.
