CASA seeking youth advocates

| May 14, 2020 1:00 AM

BONNERS FERRY — You can help a child in need.

Summer advocate training for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) of Bonner and Boundary County begins this June. Class sessions will be small with plenty of room for social distancing.

No special experience is required and volunteer advocates are trained, supported and assigned cases to represent child victims of abuse and neglect. North Idaho CASA needs 40 advocates to meet the growing number of local cases during these difficult times.

Do you have the time to help a child victim? For more information please call or email Jan Rust, advocate trainer at 509-879-1793 or janisrust@northidahocasa.org and she will gladly answer any questions

North Idaho CASA provides court-appointed special advocates for children removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or violence. CASA advocates investigate the circumstances of a child’s case; prepare reports for the court and make recommendations to the judge for needed medical, dental and mental health care, educational assistance and other services; and monitor case plans, court orders, and hearings for compliance. They ensure the child is in a safe home throughout their case; personally visit with the child; help this child understand their situation and the court proceedings; and more.

For more information please call or email Jan Rust, advocate trainer at 509-879-1793 or janisrust@northidahocasa.org and she will gladly answer any questions.
