With disco and YouTube, we will survive
BFHS staff reaches out to students through lip sync/dancing videos
BONNERS FERRY — If you’re curious to how much Bonners Ferry High School staff care about their students, all you need to do is watch any — or all — of their lip-syncing videos.
The videos, which were created on the last day of school before the school closed in the wake of novel coronavirus concerns, were a message from the staff to the students: We care about you, we miss you and it’s going to be OK, said the pair behind the videos, English teacher Paul Bonnell and guidance counselor Jenny Mackey.
“Bonners Ferry students, we miss you,” a message from the staff added to the end of the video reads. “We hope this made you smile and we hope to see you soon. Stay safe.
“Thank you for watching, laughing, dancing, singing, smiling and sharing. From your BFHS staff, including those not in the videos, we miss you!”
Since the first video, “I Will Survive” went live in late March, it’s attracted almost 4,000 views with students, parents and graduates from around the country tuning in to watch.
A second video, “Stayin’ Alive”, went live in late April, and also has drawn strong support and praise from parents, teachers and the community.
The third video, “We Are Family”, went live on Sunday.
