Monday morning the penstock of the Bonners Ferry Water and Light Company’s plant at Myrtle Creek was broken by a rock slide, causing the city to be without power. Water was pumped into the city mains by the B.F. Lumber Company’s pump. It was recommended the water be boiled for domestic use.
Search parties have been out since Thursday evening looking for Chris Klockmann of Porthill, who disappeared Thursday morning. He is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Klockmann and has lived in the district over 13 years.

Dobson Creek farmer, Ray Gibbons, has been named “Grassman of the Year.”
Jury awards $64,000 to Vernon Sandy for highway right-of-way for the bypass on O’Callahan’s Island; including highway access.
Jim Meeker is named the year’s most outstanding wrestler.

Wagging tails and lolling tongues heralded the second annual Canine Caper on Saturday, when about 100 humans gathered with their pooches at B.F. Nursery to start the 4K race.
The BF girls came up with a pair of first place finishes at the state track and field competition - with Katie Poston tying the shot-putt record and Shantel Shirado tying her personal best in pole vaulting.
