Gun club, Dukes Claybusters back in action
The Bonners Ferry Gun Club and the Dukes Claybusters, the Bonners Ferry High School trapshooting team, are back in action with the club’s facilities open and the team scoring well in recent tournaments.
The club is open 10 a.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. Saturday for the high school team and at 10 a.m. on Sundays for all interested.
“On June 1, hopefully, we can have more shooters, so come on out and try out our new improved facilities,” Lonny Jelenik told The Bonners Ferry Herald.
Dukes Claybusters won first place for junior shooters in the Winter Big Sky I-NET Shoot for 2020.
At the recent winter competition at home saw juniors Seth Rice and Torsten Conover tied at 169 and sub-juniors, Kamen Nelson and Wyatt McDonald broke 169 each also. All four shooters got to shoot one box of 25 practice rounds before their shoot off with Rice breaking a 25x25 over Conover for second place in the Junior Division and Nelson with 21x25 over McDonald with 20x25 for second place in the Sub Junior Division.
The trophies from the Bonners Ferry Gun Club to the Dukes Claybusters shooting were as follows: Wade Rice, first place, Juniors; Seth Rice, second place, Juniors; Torsten Conover, third place, Juniors; Wyatt Hathaway, fourth place, Juniors; and Ryan Carelli, fifth place, Juniors; Melanie Campbell, first place, Ladies; Cassidy Undershill, second place, Ladies; Colin Fairchild, first, Sub Juniors; Kamen Nelson, second, Sub Juniors; Wyatt McDonald, third place, Sub Juniors; Dillon McLeish, fourth place, Sub Juniors; and Isaac Bliss, fifth place, Sub Juniors.
Practice: Seth Rice broke 24 and 25x25 for 49x50; and Wade Rice also broke 25x25 and 24x25 for 49x50; Seth’s 25 straight was in his shoot-off. Other scores were in the 18 to 23 group. New shooter Alex Stolley, 12 years old, broke a 19x25 for his second time out.
