From History of Boundary County, Idaho, 1987: “General Feed and Grain was founded in 1942 by Victor Frank Rae and his wife, Marie Rae.

The company began as a feed manufacturing and retailing entity. In 1946, services were expanded to include the area’s first potato warehouse. 1954 saw further expansion in the form of a new, 182,000-bushel grain elevator. This project also included the installation of a grain dryer that has since saved many area crops.

In 1962, construction was completed on a modern certified seed cleaning plant, opening up a new era in crop types raised in the county.

1974 marked the opening of a bulk fertilizer blending plant followed by the Lawn, Farm, and Garden Center in 1979.

General Feed and Grain provides services in trucking, chemicals, custom seed cleaning, and agricultural consulting. Its full service approach to agriculture has made it an integral part of Boundary County.

Many thanks to all our customers in the past and in the future.”

This letter opener from General Feed & Grain can be seen in the museum’s collection.
