Bonners Ferry’s new siren fire alarm arrived from the factory last week and will be put in place this week. The siren cost the city about $300 and is one of the best alarms on the market.
A second large capture of liquor was made at Eastport last Friday night, the confiscation being made by Deputy Collector of Customs L.H. Young who took 23 cases of whiskey from a box car.
One of the delightful social events of the week was the bridge party given last evening by Miss Agnes Callaghan in honor of Miss Stella Stoos.

Collins Construction, of Kalispell, Montana, has informed the City Council of plans to build a large apartment house complex in the Valley View area of the South Hill. The plan is for a 24 unit complex built in the “garden style.”
A proclamation signed by Mayor A.J. Baylon, establishing Saturday, October 17 “Governor’s Day,” in Bonners Ferry. Arrangements are under way for the official visit of Idaho Governor Don Samuelson. A banquet served by the ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary will held at the Legion Hall on Friday, October 16 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
“Meet Your Candidates” night, sponsored by the Jaycees, will be held on Monday night, Oct. 19, at 8 p.m. in the American Legion Hall. Candidates from both the Republican and Democratic parties have been invited to attend this non-partisan political gathering.

Jennifer Porter has been elected as new chairperson for the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, replacing Gary Aitken, who has served for the past four years.
Bales of hay on a trailer caught fire Friday night as the truck traveled north on Hwy. 95. South Boundary Fire Department quickly put out the fire.
Becky Lowther and Katie Poston have been selected to the All Intermountain League for volleyball.
