BFHS, BFMS welcome youngsters to cheer camp
On Saturday, October 24, the BFHS and BCMS cheer teams hosted Future Badger Cheer Camp for youth in grades K-6.
After cheering at the late-night Kellogg football game the night before, the BFHS cheer team was tired but with the help of the BCMS cheer team, they made this a memorable event for everyone, said Andria Hedrick, BFHS Cheer coach.
This season, there were 74 participants.
“We didn't expect for this many to register this season and the Badger cheerleaders were so excited they were able to teach so many kids how fun cheerleading is,” Hedrick said. “The teams profited almost $1,000 and are so glad to end the season with such a successful fundraiser.”
During cheer camp, participants learned a variety of skills including kicks, jumps, light tumbling, cheers, and a dance routine. They also enjoyed playing games and making new friendships! At the end of a fun filled day, the participants showed off what they learned for their family and friends.
Future Badger Cheer Camp is the primary fundraiser for the local cheerleaders. They host a camp every football season and look forward to hosting another cheer camp during this coming winter sports season. All profits go directly to the teams to pay for a variety of expenses including uniforms, spirit items, competitions, and team building.
BFHS cheerleaders are Addy Heigel, Ember Allred, Hailey Kelsey, Gena Kelsey, Kynsie Hinrichs, and Kylie Callahan with coach Andria Hedrick. BCMS cheerleaders are Kyleigh Brewer, Miley Fleck, Piper Banning, Sadie Frederickson, Cheyanne Johnson and Abby Johnson, with Coach Nati Summerfield.
Also, this week, BFHS Cheer is hosting tryouts for the cheer team with Tuesday to Thursday 4:30-6 p.m. and final tryout day is Friday. Information available at the BFHS office.
