BONNERS FERRY — For the second time in two weeks, the Priest River girls soccer team fell to Bonners Ferry.

The Badgers (3-1-1 overall, 3-1 Intermountain League) completed a season sweep of the Spartans on Tuesday night with a 2-0 victory.

Through three matches this season, Priest River has been outscored 11-0. The Spartans are 0-3 in Intermountain League play.

“We’re seeing a little bit of progress,” head coach Rob Lawler said. “The players are starting to connect passes better and we definitely played them strong defensively only allowing two goals.”

The Spartans are now 0-3 both overall and in the Intermountain League.

Priest River had no shots on goal in Tuesday’s loss and Lawler said his team needs to work on finding the back of the net.

“The other team is beating us to the ball,” he said, “and shielding the ball better so something we need to improve on is being able to go to the ball harder and be able to shield better so that we can start making some connections with passes. I’ve seen improvement, but we still have a ways to go to be more competitive.

The Spartans (0-3) host Coeur d’Alene Charter 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Stats from this game were not available at press time. The goals by Bonners Ferry were scored in the 21st and 60th minute.

Also last week, the Badgers hosted nonconference foe Stillwater Christian of Kalispell, Mont., and fought the visitors to a 0-0 tie.
