KNWF to close auto tour road temporarily

Starting Monday, Sept. 14, the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge auto tour road will be closed to all entry due to maintenance of the water system running beneath the road.

To ensure the safety of all visitors, no foot travel, bicycles, or vehicles are permitted during the closure.

The work is expected to last several weeks, with anticipated re-opening by mid-October. KNWF officials thanked the community for your patience while they work to keep things safe and operative for the animals and people that continue to enjoy the refuge
