100 Years Ago

An exhibit that will be worth seeing at the Boundary County Fair will be displayed by C.W. Heideman, who is a potato specialist, and who has been very successful in various lines of agriculture.

The hearing in the matter of the forming of a drainage district of overflow lands in the vicinity of Mirror Lake, was had last Thursday at the courthouse. The new district will be known as Drainage District No. 1, and it will include approximately 4,285 acres. A.J Kent, W.R. Hoagland, and Frank Clapp were appointed commissioners of the new district.

Mrs. Amelia Bullock, Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Idaho, will be in town to pay an official visit to the Moyea Chapter, No. 31.

The Interstate Commerce Commission has approved plans to abandon the Kootenai Valley rail line. The Great Northern reported that repairs had not been maintained and the rail line was in an unsafe condition.

Brig Yougue has reported an inch of snow in Canuck Basin.

The County Fair is underway and fair goers marvel at the many displays. The livestock barns are filled to capacity, the booth exhibit space is full, and vegetables, fruits, and flowers are abundant.

Employees rushed to put out a fire that broke out in a Welco log loader on Wednesday, preventing it from spreading.

By attending one of the Boundary County Library’s two free Summer Reading Programs and reading over the summer, Valley View Elementary students have won $100 in free books for the school library.
