Second BFHS student tests positive for COVID-19
BONNERS FERRY — A second Bonners Ferry High School student has tested positive for COVID-19 on Sept. 14; the student was in contact with staff and other students on Thursday.
The individual involved has been asked to stay home and self-isolate and has taken proper precautions to prevent spread.
The BCSD is working with Panhandle Health District and is conducting contact tracing for those students who had close contact with the students who have tested positive.
Also, all district schools have been closed for continued contact tracing, deep cleaning efforts, and air quality issues as one of the preventative measures are increasing ventilation.
“This is difficult news and impacts all who are part of the community.” Superintendent Jan Bayer said, “While we are not able to share personally-identifiable information, we care about keeping our community informed.”
District schools reopened on Wednesday, Sept. 16, although students who came in contact with one of the positive cases were told to self-quarantine.
