100 Years Ago
This past week, a number of petty thefts, two robberies, and a hold-up were reported in Bonners Ferry. There is now considerable talk about the availability of putting a night marshal on duty.
The first fireman’s ball to be given in Bonners Ferry for some seven years will be held at the I.O.O.F. Hall on October 2. The proceeds of the dance will be used towards fitting up quarters for the firemen.
A fine display of all kinds of fruit is being exhibited today in the display window of Browns Department Store. All the fruit exhibited was grown on J.A. Worley’s ranch on the Northside.

The largest market animal sale on record for the Boundary County Fair was held on Sept. 10 at the indoor arena. A total of 75 animals were offered for sale by 4-H and FFA members at top dollar prices.
Bonners Ferry will have a bypass – eventually! An agreement between The Idaho Highway Board and Vernon “Bill” Sandy, Bonners Ferry, has been reached in the amount of $67,800.

Construction on the pedestrian underpass, from the Kootenai River Inn to the city parking lot, began Monday, Sept.12.
Harley ”Hod” Sanborn and Virginia Johnson were married Sept. 3, 1955. On Sept. 3, 2005, they celebrated 50 years of marriage at the Deep Creek Restaurant.
Guests came from all over the county, as well as Spokane, to take part in the Copeland Cemetery fund-raiser on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Copeland Hall.
