James Wayland Chubb, 55, passed away on April 20, 2020, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho

A small celebration of life was held Sept. 13, 2020, in the garden at Two Tones. Because of COVID-19, it was attended by family and close friends of Jim only.

Jim was born in Bonners Ferry to James E. and Sandra (Davis) Chubb on May 19, 1964. Because of his dad’s work, the Chubb family lived in many states until returning to Bonners Ferry to open a business in 1974.

Jim was a hard worker. He mowed lawns, “bucked” hay bales, drove combine for Tucker Farms and helicopter logged. He was offered a job on the East Coast, where his older sister, Carisa, was living and working. He worked cutting down trees to clear land. He made firewood and sold it. From that job he met Toni Shelzi who shared many family get-togethers, travel and a lot of the same interests. Toni and her son, Julian became a very big part of Jim’s life. He loved them both deeply. She led him into a career in property management followed by real estate sales. With his outgoing personality, he became “top salesman” in his office.

Jim invested in property in Bonner and Boundary counties. With his family he invested in the property that became Chubb’s Curley Creek Conifers.

Because of his declining health, he returned to Bonners Ferry where he lived the past five years.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, James E. Chubb; his grandparents, William A. Chubb and Carol Chubb and Wayland and Doris Davis. Jim is survived by his mother, Sandra; sisters, Carisa (Mike) McAlister; Melissa (Ken) Riesen and Cara (Vern) Guenther; along with his nephews and niece, Kyle Cox, Kevin and Klarity Riesen.

Special thanks to his uncle John and aunt Kris (Chubb) Lefebvre and close buddies for their extra support. You are appreciated.

Jim is deeply missed by his loving family and friends. Thanks to everyone who was there for him.
