BONNERS FERRY — The Badgers varsity football team suffered a 54-7 loss against the non-league Moscow Bears on Friday, Sept. 25.

Bonners Ferry, a class 3A team, hosted the larger, 4A Bears on a gloomy and rainy day that played a factor in the game; due to rain, there were many fumbles and dropped passes.

The starting center was sick and missed the game, forcing the Badgers to use their back-up centers during the rain drenching game that contributed to turnover problems.

According to head coach Travis Hinthorn, “It was kind of the perfect storm with the snaps.”

Moscow played their first game of the season against Bonners Ferry and featured a roster of returning senior and junior players; Bonners Ferry is a much younger team with about half the team comprised of sophomores.

“We played hard, but they were just a really good team,” said Hinthorn.

The Badgers have a 2-2 record and will travel to St. Maries (1-1) for their final nonconference game on Friday, Oct. 2.
