EASTPORT — On March 30, Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash that occurred northbound on U.S. 95 at Milepost 533 at 4:10 p.m.

According to Idaho State Police, Harjit S. Gill, 55, of Abbotsford, B.C., was driving southbound in a white 2018 Western Star tractor pulling a loaded flatbed lumber trailer.

Gill traveled left of center while negotiating a curve and sideswiped William H. Sills, 85, of Bonners Ferry, in a Maroon 2007 Toyota Highlander. Gill lost control of his vehicle, causing the tractor and trailer to overturn, blocking all travel lanes for approximately 5 hours.

Initial reports stated the accident might have been a head-on collision, and radio reports eventually said that Sills was not in the vehicle upon law enforcement arrival, leaving many to assume the driver was ejected.

Traffic eventually opened up, allowing single lane access through the vehicle crash site.

Both drivers were wearing safety belts. Sills was transported by ground ambulance to Boundary Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
