First responders coordinating multiagency exercise morning of April 17

| April 16, 2021 4:21 PM

BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County emergency responders will be participating in a multiagency command and coordination radio exercise on Saturday morning, April 17, from approximately 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

The exercise is designed to evaluate the county’s ability to direct, coordinate, and control a multiagency emergency response across multiple jurisdictions.

This exercise is codeveloped and co-sponsored by the Boundary County Office of Emergency Management, the Boundary County Fire Chiefs Association, and the Idaho Department of Lands.

Over sixty people from more than a dozen state and local emergency response agencies will be participating.

The exercise will be conducted using the actual radio channels responders would use in a real emergency event, so residents who can monitor county radio channels should be aware that the radio traffic is only an exercise.

All exercise radio traffic will be prefaced with “This is an exercise” or “Exercise, Exercise” to avoid confusion. Any real-world emergencies occurring during that time will be responded to immediately as they normally would.
