Bradley Lloyd Dillin

| April 19, 2021 11:56 AM

Bradley Lloyd Dillin passed away peacefully at his home in Porthill, Idaho, on April 9, 2021, at the age of 86.

Bradley was born in Hendley, Neb., on Oct. 28, 1934, to Russell and Thelma Dillin. In 1935, the family moved to Copeland, Idaho, when Bradley was one year old. He attended grade school at Copeland and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1952.

After graduating he went to work farming in the Kootenai Valley for his soon to be father-in-law Edward Houck. On June 3, 1956, Bradley married Carol Houck.

He left the farm for a short time to work at Boeing in Renton, Wash., but didn’t like working inside and came back to the farm where he would do what he truly loved for 66 years. Even after his cancer diagnosis he would be at the farm after undergoing treatment.

Bradley spent many winters logging with his brother Bob. At home he raised beef cows, feeder pigs, and even had a milk cow. He always had a gentle way with his animals.

In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, picking huckleberries, and to the surprise of many people an occasional game of golf. Bradley and Carol enjoyed traveling in their motor home, but always had to be back at work for the next farming operation.

Bradley was preceded in death by his parents, older brothers Bill and Bob, and son Steven.

He is survived by his wife Carol of 64 years; sons Dennis [Steve], and Tim [Julie]; grandchildren Ryan, Jeremy [Sarah], Rachael [Brian]; great-grandchildren Brooklynn, Issac, Brianna, and Khepri; brother-in-law Ed Houck [Marie]; sisters-in-law Vera Dillin, and Helen Dillin; and many nieces and nephews.

Bradley will be missed and remembered for his knowledge and dedication to farming in the Kootenai Valley.
