BONNERS FERRY — Tim Garcia, the founder of the bushcraft brand Uberleben, has teamed up with Dathan Senn to create a unique indoor airsoft experience for Boundary County called CQB Underground.

When Garcia moved to Bonners Ferry in 2017, he wanted to bring indoor airsoft to the city but had to wait patiently for the right opportunities to present themselves — he needed the correct location.

Garcia has experience playing airsoft since 2011 at various airsoft fields in California, and Senn has experience with paintball in Florida. But, most importantly, both have experience creating a business from concept to reality.

The project began in March and initially took five months to complete. While there were many struggles and obstacles, Garcia said, “that comes with building anything.”

Some obstacles include staying within budget due to rising lumber costs and working with the city of Bonners Ferry to follow regulations and restrictions.

Garcia and Senn are excited to provide a new source of entertainment to the community but, most importantly, look forward to facilitating a thriving airsoft community in North Idaho.

In order to create the thriving community Garcia and Senn want, they have made CQB Underground more than just a place to play but additionally a retail location to find all the items you need to play airsoft.

“We have a dedicated retail space inside the facility,” Garcia said. “We offer everything from airsoft guns, protective gear, accessories to BBs.”

According to Garcia, you don’t need any gear to play since rental services include everything from high-quality airsoft guns to protective equipment.

“Just show up,” Garcia said.

According to Garcia, there has been much positive feedback with many residents enthusiastic to try the facility out and play with airsoft guns.

CQB Underground has competitive rates to play, offering $25 to play and $15 to rent the equipment.

Garcia said he wanted to keep prices reasonable to offer a place for people to play and have fun.

“Hopefully there’s some kind of return on investment eventually,” Garcia said. “Otherwise we may need to just call this all a passion project.”

Current hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. and provide private bookings.

CQB Underground is located behind the old creamery building at 6426 Kootenai St., Unit B.
