NBFD dealing with burn piles, purchases new vehicle
BONNERS FERRY — On Aug. 7, around 5 p.m., North Bench Fire District was informed by dispatch of a report of several slash piles burning in the area of Songbird Lane.
North Bench responded with Brush 161 and Chief 100 vehicles to investigate; upon arrival, they quickly discovered three separate slash piles and one active burn barrel.
According to the news release, crews quickly contained and mopped up all four fires. They dug a fire line around all four burn areas and called the fires controlled.
The district reminded residents to keep Idaho green by not burning their slash or debris piles immediately after a brief rainstorm moved through the area.
“Even though we have had cooler temperatures lately, our fire danger is still at extreme and our fuels are very dry.”
Additionally, North Bench acquired a new vehicle, part of three new apparatuses ready and in service to respond to calls.
“It is because of our great community and all their support to our agency, that we were able to
purchase these vehicles. “
North Idaho Collision also contributed to North Bench by donating their time and helping to install the decals needed for the vehicle.
