Peggy Mendenhall, 64

| August 31, 2021 9:03 AM

It is with great sadness we announce the loss of Peggy Mendenhall, who passed away on Aug. 26, 2021. Peggy was born May 19, 1957, to John and Mary Van Etten. Peggy attended school in Bonners Ferry. Peggy loved spending time with family, late nights with friends, her dog Tilly, camping, cooking, reading, and being with the love of her life, Geno Mendenhall

Peggy worked in many restaurants and people would travel all over Boundary County to sample Peggy’s cooking. Peggy was a gifted cook who could open a bare cupboard and make a delicious meal with what she found. Peggy always made sure to have enough to share with anyone who may come along. Peggy will be remembered for her big heart and open table.

In her later years, Peggy worked at the Community Restorium as a caregiver where she quickly became both a resident and staff favorite. Peggy was one of a kind. Not only was she great at caring for others, she truly enjoyed it. To know Peggy was to love Peggy.

Peggy was proceeded in death by her husband Geno, her parents and infant son Isaac. She is survived by her son Zachary (Amy), daughter Sybil and granddaughter Kelly, and grandsons Donavan, Isach, Evan, Camden, Kade, and great-grandson Hayden. She is also survived by sisters Mary Ann (Bob), Connie (Orval), Leassa (Shane), brothers John and Paul (Jody), many nieces and nephews and many friends. Peggy will be missed by all.

A Celebration of Life and potluck will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at the Rotary Park (Snow Creek Pond). Friends are invited to stop in and are welcome to camp.
