100 Years Ago
A large company of Bonners Ferry folks enjoyed an all day party Monday at the boarding house of the Bonners Ferry Lumber Company on the island.
Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Meeker and sons went to Priest River to spend the day at the home of Mr. Meeker’s nephew, Mr. Parsons, editor of the Priest River newspaper.
Henry Moore left last week for the Idaho Continental Mine at Klockmann, where he accepted a position as electrician at the power house of the mining company.
Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Foley have leased the Fitzpatrick building west of the Casey Hotel and have remodeled the building for use as a restaurant.

Burlington-Northern freight train No. 97, eastbound, struck a 1965 Plymouth automobile at the Bonners Ferry Main Street crossing Sunday afternoon at 12:05 p.m. The driver of the car, a Forest Service employee from Noxon, Mont., was taken to Community Hospital for treatment. She is listed in satisfactory condition.
Official plans were revealed yesterday for another business venture in Bonners Ferry shortly after the first of the year. Charles “Chuck” Malone said he will open a funeral home on Friday, Jan. 7.
Local winners at recent Sandpoint snowmobile races include Dick Solt on a Polaris who placed first in the A-Main 440 and won the trophy dash. Delores Sweet on a Snow Jet placed first in the Powder Puff derby, Hank Solt placed second on a Polaris in the 340 class.

For the past two weeks, snowstorms have wreaked havoc and caused several car crashes within Boundary County, most of them were non-injury or minor injury in nature.
Bonners Ferry High School senior soccer player, Jennifer Putnam, has been selected by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All American Committee officially sponsored by Adidas, to the 2006 NSCAA/Adidas Secondary School Girls All American Soccer Team on Dec. 2, 2006.
Bonners Ferry High School Choir performed beautifully for parents, family and friends during the Christmas Concert at Becker Auditorium on Dec. 19. Members of the Boundary County Jr. High Choir also performed.
