BONNERS FERRY — The VFW is selling raffle tickets for a custom, one of a kind queen sized quilt in hopes of raising enough money to install new gutters and outdoor lighting at the Bonners Ferry Senior Center.

Anyone with $5 for a ticket could be the winner of this beautiful quilt. Tickets are on sale now through Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, but there are only a limited number available. VFW Post 3622 Commander Ben Apo said if they sell out, they’ll draw a winner at that time instead of waiting for Veterans Day.

The proceeds are part of recent fundraising efforts put forth by the VFW. They have a goal in mind: $5800. That’s the price tag for the gutters and lighting they want to install at the Senior Center. Both items are not included in regular monthly expenditures, so the VFW has been fundraising to reach their goal.

The money raised from the quilt raffle will be added to funds raised from a recent bake sale and chili cook off. The VFW will continue to fundraise until the goal is reached.

Local quilters Justine Williams and Doreen O’Brien donated the materials, time and their skills to make the grand prize.

If you would like to purchase a ticket, donate funds or volunteer, you can call or text Ben Apo at 206-214-5104 or email him at apo_in08@yahoo.com.
