E.J. New, well known in Bonners Ferry as one of the town’s popular barbers, closed a deal last week whereby he purchased the interests of W.J. DeLong in the Rex Theatre, taking possession last Sunday.
J.B. Ellis, James LaFountain, George Causton, of the Cynide Mining Co., were in Spokane last week and made arrangements for the purchase of a 400 foot Biblett wire rope tramway which will soon be installed at the Buckhorn mine which lies 22 miles northeast of Bonners Ferry.
The Nash auto that plunged into the Kootenai River here with Bryan Dunning New Year’s Night was taken out of the river the latter part of the week. The steering gear was found to be out of commission.

Catchingly billed as the first annual Bonners Ferry Lion’s Club Sno-Deo, plans are progressing rapidly for the initial snowmobile race here on Sunday, Feb. 14.
The high school Badgers dismantled the defense of two more basketball clubs last Friday and Saturday nights- Priest River fell here Friday by a score of 82-49, and St. Maries took the axe on their own court Saturday 75-52.
Waterfowl hunters on the Kootenai Refuge bagged an estimated 796 ducks during the 1970 season, according to Refuge Manager Del Pierce.

The sound of a backfiring sport utility vehicle sent Bonners Ferry police officers hunting through downtown looking for the source of the noise, which several at downtown businesses reported sounded like gunfire.
Valley View Elementary students will get fresh fruit and vegetables to snack on during their longer afternoons through June of 2007, funded by a $12,000 U.S. Department of Agriculture grant aimed at improving children’s eating habits.
The Lady Badgers came back from a 1-11 deficit in the first period to win 46-37 over the Priest River Spartans on Tuesday.
