PRIEST RIVER — Bonners Ferry completed a season sweep of Priest River girls basketball on Tuesday night, dominating the Spartans 56-9.

The Badgers, the fifth ranked team in statewide 3A rankings, held Priest River scoreless in the first quarter to take a commanding 28-0 lead and they cruised from there.

"The most disappointing performance of our season," Priest River head coach Gary Stewart said. "We couldn't run a set all night."

Freshman Avery Bayer led a balanced Bonners Ferry scoring attack with 11 points, as seven Badgers scored at least five points against the Spartans. Senior Holly Ansley added 10 points.

The Badgers (9-3 overall, 3-1 Intermountain League) won the first meeting between these two schools 61-24 on Jan. 7 in Bonners Ferry.

On Saturday, Bonners Ferry picked up another league victory, using a 25-9 third-quarter advantage to defeat visiting Kellogg, 59-49.

The Badgers host Clark Fork on Thursday, Jan. 21, then face defending 3A state champion Timberlake at home on Saturday, Jan. 23.
