Thoughts on the election, Capitol riot and politics

| January 28, 2021 1:00 AM

I spent a great deal of time crafting a response to Elsie Hollenbeck's letter. I feel she is very mistaken on several points but after getting done I found it impossible to pare it down to 1,500 characters. So I will need to speak to the overlying theme, Trump and his supporters are bad. Maybe bullet points:

• Trump nor the vast majority of his supporters were involved in the Capitol riot.

• He did not incite them. Read his speech transcript.

• It has been proven that extreme groups on both sides egged and led the active rioters.

• Most "rioters" were merely wandering around the inside of the Capitol.

• We do not "blindly follow" Trump. Before Trump came along, we believed America first and still do.

• The two-party system is currently in shambles. The left wants to take us into socialism and the right is failing to stop them.

• At the least, several states unconstitutionally changed their election laws opening vast opportunities for voter fraud and actively prevented transparency to the process. These grievances were not addressed, resulting in many voters across the country being disenfranchised. This is fact and cannot be disputed.

• More than "our guy was cheated" is the fact that no one is acting to fix these problems so it will happen again.

• The left has a psychotic hatred for Trump and did everything they could to destroy him from day one. He fought back which made him appear the bad guy to uninformed voters.

I would have preferred to post my original since this lacks clarity.
