On these many days of hot weather we have had here in Boundary County, we have all wished for some rain.
In past years, because of heavy snow and rainfall, the Kootenai River was known to flood the valley and the towns along the way.
This chart shows the river levels from 1894 - 1970. These are the years prior to the construction of the Libby Dam.
Note: the highest level recorded was in the year 1961, however, the most notable year (according to those who lived through it) was the 1948 flood.
During this dry season, let's all remember to be safe and keep wishing for rain.
