We need to treat each other with respect
In his July 8 letter, Daniel Strayer writes; “Almost anyone who reads the news cannot help but notice the sharp decline in civil behavior, both in action and in speech, in the last five years.”
Strayer moves on to say “This process relies on truth and respect for others, and these qualities comprise the foundation of civility. Dishonesty and disrespect invariably lead to fear, hatred, and anger, and a general decline in civility.”
I wholeheartedly agree! The day before Mr. Strayer’s letter was published, I was running a few errands in Bonners Ferry. I was looking forward to supporting our Main Street businesses and running into friends and neighbors.
My mood did a one-eighty when a pick-up truck with an “ISIS style paint job” and displaying an “expletive Biden” flag pulled into a nearby parking slot.
I can only imagine what the two little children who were walking to the store asked their mother.
Mr. Strayer, I stand with you.
Enough is enough.
Not in our town!
