The shelves were stocked clear to the ceiling, some items reached only by climbing ladders that glided easily along the shelving.

H. Boyd Lindsay acquired the Kemp-Cleveland Hardware store in 1945. Later, a partnership was formed with Ted V. Helmer, and the business was renamed Lindsay-Helmer Hardware, Inc.

Ted Helmer retired in 1969, selling his shares in the business to Boyd's son, Don Lindsay. Boyd retired in 1984 after selling his shares in the business to his grandson, Scot Lindsay.

Don Lindsay and son, Scot, became the "masters of hardware." The successful hardware business finally closed its doors in 1999.

In 2006, Under the Sun opened in the business space, and once again - the shelves are stocked clear to the ceiling; some items being reached only by climbing the ladders which glide easily along the shelving.
