We are excited to announce that Boundary County School District continues to fulfill the recommendations made by our Facilities Committee to improve and be proactive with our school facilities.

A 10-year plan was created and presented to the school board last October. At this time, we have several projects for the summer based on their recommendations. In order to complete the projects we have committed our Secure Rural Schools (forest funds), Maintenance and Operation Levy (M & O), and approved Federal funds.

Naples Elementary will be full of activities over the summer. The second phase of construction to the front office is well underway. The committee recommended that the front office be moved to the main building for the security of staff and students.

One of the 1972 modules is set for demolition in late June. We want to thank the South Boundary Fire Protection District and the Idaho State Fire Marshal's Office for conducting a fire investigation class for firefighters from Bonner, Boundary and Shoshone counties on this project.

Their participation has saved the district funds. In addition to these two big projects, Naples will also have fire control updates and new flooring in classrooms.

Naples Elementary is the main focus this summer with smaller projects at the other schools. Mount Hall Elementary projects include new flooring in multiple classrooms, new exterior doors and frames, fire control updates, and a new water heater.

Bonners Ferry High School is slated to complete flooring projects in multiple classrooms, new surveillance cameras installed, and a concession stand and bathrooms constructed at the softball field. A sprinkler system is being installed for the middle school. BCMS, Valley View, and BFHS will have gym floors finished.

Lastly, we are proactively improving our HVAC systems and upgrading our LED lighting to save on electrical expenses. Thanks to the City of Bonners Ferry and Bonneville Power for helping us with the lighting projects.

Thank you to our Facilities Committee for their input and guidance. Thank you to the community for the M & O Levy to help support our facility projects and thank you to our maintenance/custodial department to make the projects happen this summer. We cannot complete the projects alone and truly appreciate the help and support.
