David Martin Ross Gibney has passed away. He was born Jan. 22, 1952, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

It's with a heavy heart we say goodbye to Dave. He was a caring father, brother, son and a friend to many. Dave was also a proud Navy veteran.

After raising his family in the Boise Valley, he moved onto his long-time dream of becoming a skilled horseman. He worked with several different breeds but found that he gravitated to American painted horses. After training his third horse, he found a new job opportunity that moved him and his dog Bandit, his long-time companion, to North Idaho. They eventually settled in Bonners Ferry, which turned out to be their final home base.

Dave will always be remembered for having a big heart, which had him supporting programs like the American Red Cross, Toys for Tots and Coats for Kids.

Along the way he provided assistance to those who needed help. Dave later found himself being adopted into several different families as a father/grandfather figure. He proved to be a mentor and confidante to folks that needed to find a way to regain some stability in their lives.

Dave will be missed by all who came to know him.
