In 1936, John H. (Bud) Bardsley married Monda Nelson in Nampa, Idaho. He worked in a local service station there. Bud and Monda purchased a ranch and moved to Curley Creek in 1940. They had a service station built near Herman Lake on the old Highway 2.

Bud took a school bus driving job and was later hired as the maintenance supervisor for Boundary County School District 101.

Bud and Monda decided in 1950 to sell the service station. It was purchased by A.J and Ruth Allie, who started Allie’s Tavern.

Bud loved to play the drums and joined several bands over the years. The bands played at many high school dances for Bonners Ferry, Troy and Libby. They also played at Curley Creek and Moyie community dances, as well as fair dances at the fairgrounds.

Bud retired from the school district in 1975 and moved to Caldwell to be near his daughter, Thea Cossairt.
