Vote no on the BCSD101 M&O levy
According to the Idaho Legislature website, it is expected there will be an increase in income of 5.8%. With that, the public school budget for K-12 will be increased by 4.5% for 2021. That is an increase of $101.5 million.
Now, with the influx of people to the county, all paying top dollar for their property, you can bet your property taxes will increase by the maximum amount allowed by law. On top of that, the school board wants you to pay an additional $187 per $100K of value each year?
Enough is enough. They don't need any more of our money. Furthermore, if this levy passes, it may become permanent. They aren’t telling you that, are they? According to Idaho Code 33-802, if a levy passes seven years in a row, the district can make the next levy indefinite. If we don’t pay attention and address this now, it could become a permanent fixture on your tax bill — forever. Let that sink in.
It is vitally important to get out and vote no on March 9. If you don’t, you may never again have that option.
