Commissioners to fix ordinance language

BONNERS FERRY — At the Nov. 9 Boundary County commissioner meeting, Ruen-Yeager and Associate representatives discussed general planning and zoning work, permits, fees, budget, projects and how the county needs to fix language of ordinances.

Clare Marley with Ruen-Yeager ranked permit applications types into file levels in order to rank them into what level of staff effort there is required, how long the process takes and how many staff hours it takes to complete the permits.

She said that lot line adjustments would better serve as an administrative procedure. If this happens then for such an adjustment no notice would need to be printed and an ordinance would need to be written to make the change.

Darius Ruen of Ruen-Yeager, also in attendance, said that if cleaning up ordinances was something that the commissioners wanted the consultants to do, then they would have to figure out a timeline for the project. They also discussed that in the future the commissioners would have to pin down the hours that they want consultants to work on Boundary County projects since Ruen-Yeager has decided that they need to raise their rates.

Chairman Dan Dinning agreed that there are ordinances that have legal flaws and could function better.
