Free steaks for all veterans at Sweet Lou’s
Sweet Lou’s restaurants in the region are saluting the troops by offering all current and former members of the U.S. armed forces a free, hand-cut, six-ounce, USDA choice top sirloin with one side on Veterans Day.
Both locations — Ponderay and Coeur d’Alene — are offering the free meal.
“This tradition has turned into one of our busiest and most rewarding days of the year,” said Chad Foust, owner of Sweet Lou’s. “We start cutting steaks Tuesday for Thursday in preparation.”
Foust has celebrated Veterans Day every year since opening Sweet Lou’s in 2011. Overall, 3,500 steaks have been handed out to local heroes.
“We are ready and willing to serve every service man or woman that walks in our doors,” said Foust. “It’s the least we can do for all that they have done for us.”
To be able to offer the free meal, Foust does have to make some limitations. The offer is only good for dine-in customers on November 11 and individuals must show valid military ID to redeem their steak. The free steak offer is available for lunch or dinner.
“Our doors open at 11 a.m.,” said Foust. “We’ll see you then.”
Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and Bar is located at 477272 U.S. 95 in Ponderay and Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and Tap House is at 601 N. Front St. in Coeur d’Alene. Both locations are open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
