BONNERS FERRY — Soccer players Sophia Roemer and Morgan Burt were recognized as All League by the Intermountain League for the 2021 soccer season.

Each year, the league’s top players are recognized for their skills by Intermountain League coaches to form a team of 11. These players then receive medals.

Morgan Burt was also named the top Badger scorer for the second year in a row with 13 goals and seven assists this season.

Varsity coach Emily Winebark said Roemer worked extremely hard not just during the season but during the off-season to get in shape and improve her game.

“She is probably our smartest player, making incredible passes and plays that push our offense forward,” Winebark said.

Winebark said Roemer can see what needs to happen on the field to get the plays going. She can score, assist and get back for defense when needed, and has the ability to get to the middle of the field and gives it her all, she added.

“The first words that come to mind with [Morgan] Burt are fast and indestructible. She is a force on offense,” Winebark said.

Burt has always been able to beat defenders to the ball and push it up toward the net, Winebark said. This year she built up her ability to cross the ball, cut to the middle, and maneuver around the few defenders she couldn’t beat, Winebark said.

This attributed to Burt being the team's top scorer.

“She is a huge encouragement to others and has excellent feedback to give her team,” Winebark said.
