Shane R. Dodge passed away in his home on September 29, 2021 at the age of 78.

Shane was born in Provo, Utah, on February 23, 1943, to George Arthur Dodge and Martha Ellen Myler Dodge, one of ten siblings. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1961 where he had participated in wrestling and football.

On February 6, 1970, Shane married Betty Jean Heaps and, in 1974, they moved with their six children to Idaho. In 1975 they bought a piece of land in Copeland, where Shane, along with the help of his four boys, built a custom log home. Here they lived and raised their family and often kept a milk cow and chickens to help feed the family. Shane and Betty loved to dance and often joined good friends at community gatherings and dances through-out the years.

In 1999, Shane and Betty moved to a new property they bought in order to be closer to town. Here, Shane built another home from the ground up with the help of his family.

Shane was a highly skilled welder and educated in metallurgy. His life was immersed in welding and fabrication from owning his own fabrication shop in Utah, to working for Sims Implement in Bonners Ferry along with welding jobs for local loggers and heavy equipment operators. He was also a skilled mechanic and custom built many things.

Through his life Shane enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, gardening and riding horses. He loved to ride and trained horses up until the time of his passing.

Shane served his country in Vietnam as an equipment mechanic. He spent time in the latter half of his life involved with the Disabled American Veterans.

Shane lost his wife Betty to cancer in 2009. In 2011, Shane remarried Christine Kelly. He believed God's word and firmly believed we each have an appointed time to leave this life.

Shane is survived by his wife, Christine; seven siblings, Evelyn, Maralyn, LaRue, Georgia, Ellen, Cheryl and Arvilla; six children, Pete Dodge, Scott Dodge, Michael Dodge (Brenda), Clint Dodge, Jennifer McLeish (Kevin), and Angie Brown; grandchildren, Zachary Dodge, Kiley Mood, Tyler Dodge, Jody Dodge, Brittany Mills, Racheal Wall, Mason McLeish, Hailey Gray, Tristan McLeish, Shane Brown, Chase Brown, and Casey Brown; and many great-grandchildren.
