MOYIE SPRINGS — Mary Fioravanti is running for the trustee seat for Zone 2 (Moyie Springs) of Boundary County School District.

Every child has immense potential in them to do great things, Fioravanti said in announcing her campaign.

“Let’s help them reach their full potential by fostering their creativity in school. I would like to curate education around the interests/skills of the individual student,” she said.

The purpose of education is to create self-sufficient, critical thinkers, said Fiorvanti. She said she supports the addition of U.S. Constitution classes, bringing back home economics, introducing a deep dive on finance, and preparing the student for the realities of life.

She said pressing issues are facing the community’s students, handicapping their learning and thereby their future success include mask mandates, Critical Race Theory, and the Common Core curriculum.

“I oppose these and they need to be eradicated from our schools,” Fiorvanti said. “I will be the voice of parents. I will be the voice of students. And I will be the voice of taxpayers.”

A school board candidates forum set for Oct. 26 has been canceled.
