Office Sought Boundary County School Board, Zone 2
Occupation: BA Business Administration; CPA, Boeing auditor and finance manager, community college instructor
Famly: Husband Dennis, grown daughter and son
- My husband Dennis and I moved to Boundary County 12 years ago after he retired from Boeing. Dennis has been the Director of Economic Development for the county for the past five years. It has been a priority for us to intentionally have a positive impact wherever we live. What better investment can I make than to invest my time, energy, and experience in the students who will soon be my neighbors and employees here in Boundary County?
- I grew up in a diverse farming community. I earned my business degree and I obtained my CPA license while working for The Boeing Company as an Internal Auditor, I also worked there as a manager of a financial group. While on the school board I have served on the budget committee providing oversight for budgets, monthly financial reports, revenue, expenses and stabilizing the reserve balances.
- For the school district - #1 Achieving a high quality education for our kids, #2 Recruiting and retaining high quality staff; #3 Keeping our aging facilities up to date
- Keep the issues I stated in question #3 at the front of every decision
- Continue what I am currently doing. This school board has worked without individual agendas to reason through some very difficult issues. I would like to support Superintendent Bayer and see this board continue.
- A school board trustee is responsible for two things: 1) oversight of the kids and 2) oversight of the taxes. What qualifications does each candidate bring that will contribute best to proper oversight of the district?
- Kids First
- For the school district - Boise needs to more fully fund schools and give some extra help to rural schools with our unique challenges
- For the school district - Where have you been involved in the schools over the past two years? What school committees have you been on, where have you volunteered in the schools, and since registering as a candidate how many school board meetings have you attended? Are you familiar with all of the local school issues and how would you vote on issues currently in front of the board?
- For the school district - Continue to press Boise to increase school funding in all areas.
- This is a problem everywhere, not just in Boundary County. This issue is outside the scope of a School Board Trustee, however I do know that the Economic Development Council is having conversations on this topic.
- I encourage all stakeholders to be informed, visit the schools, volunteer, be in contact with the teachers, administrators, Superintendent Bayer and the school board.
