Lana DeBoer Brady
Through tears and with the saddest of hearts, the family of Lana DeBoer Brady said goodbye as she left us early Tuesday morning, Sept. 21, 2021. Alana Deanne was born in Del Norte, Color., on Oct. 11, 1960, to Calvin and Yolanda DeBoer.
The family was living in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, when she started school, later moving to Naples in the sixth grade. She graduated from BFHS in 1978 and married Jimmy Dee Kucherry shortly after. Though they divorced years later, together they raised a beautiful family and had three children — Brianna, James (Ryan) and Callie. Lana was the epitome of a Mama Bear and loved her children fiercely.
She worked at several different jobs over the years, but more importantly than listing them is saying that she met many people and made countless friends through them. It was always the people in her life that mattered most, the friends and family.
She was super crafty and made many lovely things in ceramics, wooden tole painting projects, and the patchwork quilts that she sewed for each of her 10 beloved grandchildren.
Her grandkids and great-grandson were her greatest joy and we teased her about her nonstop bragging about them! To hear her tell it, they are the cutest, sweetest, smartest, most talented and gifted kids ever. Oh, how she loved them.
Lana and Gary had a good time living the “RV Life” for a couple of years as they followed his work all over Washington and Oregon. She’d often send us pictures of the pretty sights they got to see. But being the quintessential Grandma and Grandpa, they needed a home base for gathering with all those kiddos, and they bought their forever home in Athol in 2019. They would be celebrating 16 years of marriage in November.
Lana is survived by her loving husband, Gary; children Brianna Rhoades Fleck (Adam) of Bonners Ferry, Ryan (Therese) Kucherry of Hayden, Callie (Jason) Fajardo of Chandler, Ariz., and Lindsey Brady of Spokane, Wash.; grandchildren Jade (Chris) Bonar, Dusty Rhoades, Miley, Addison and Jaxon Fleck, James and Sawyer Kucherry, Olivia, Sophia and Violet Fajardo; great-grandson Carter Bonar; brother Steven DeBoer of Hayden; sisters Cheryl (Jay) Wages of Bonners Ferry, Yolette (Glenn) Summerfield of Bonners Ferry, Lynette Bennett Petzler (Chuck) of Post Falls and Yvette (Charles) Perry of Glen Burnie, Md. She was the loving Aunt of many nieces and nephews. She simply had a huge extended family! She also leaves behind her fur-babies, Hermiston and Seco, her constant companions. She will be sadly missed and the void in our lives is immense.
There will be a service at a date to be announced. Lana will be interred near her parents, infant brother Dennis and niece Sadie, at the Paradise Valley Cemetery.
