A new type of business in town: The Coalition BF

BONNERS FERRY— When Tim Garcia moved to Bonners Ferry a few years ago he was in need of office space.

“In the city, you have Starbucks and things like that. I just wanted a quiet place to work.” Garcia said.

Garcia decided to fill this need in the community by opening a business centered around shared office space. In downtown Bonners Ferry, The Coalition BF has opened to offer a place to come and work alone or work with others. It has all the amenities such as high speed internet, printing and scanning, and more. It also has YouTube and podcast equipment. It is easily accessible downtown with nearby free parking.

The Coalition BF, 6389 Kootenai St., is located where Garcia operated his e-commerce business UBERLEBEN. But they outgrew the space and moved that business into the old Bonners Ferry Herald building.

The new business is furnished with cream colored desks, comfortable chairs, high-end electronic equipment and high-speed internet. In addition, there is a small refrigerator with drinks and snacks that may be purchased through the website application. The atmosphere is bright, airy, comfortable and quiet.

The phone booth is soundproofed, which is good for recording audio for any reason or just a place for a private phone call. The podcast room is furnished with recording equipment, two couches and a table in between. The building is around the corner from U.S. 95 but the traffic can’t be heard in the space.

There is a meeting room with plastic grass carpet on the wall to assist with sound cancellation. This room can be used for meetings or YouTube recording since it is equipped with an AppleTV on the wall. There is a printer and scanner station with blazing Wi-Fi speed of 1,000Mbs up/down available to members.

Members access the building through a scanner, much like accessing a gym after hours, Garcia said.

“You have an app on your phone to unlock the door. All plans are month-to-month, with no contract and no deposit.” Garcia said.

There are three membership options: “boss mode” is for those that need access whenever they want 24/7 for $329 per month; “sunrise session” is for those that need access weekdays between 7 a.m. to noon for $199, and “the nooner, which” is for those that need access weekdays from noon to 5 p.m for $179.

“So you can just come in here at night and work or during the day or whatever times of day. it's members only, but it is accessible to anyone. You just go through the website and sign up,” Garcia said.
