Badger track places amid fierce competition and beat Spartans at IML double dual

POST FALLS — Badgers track and field took sixth and eighth at the Christina Finney Co-Ed Relays on April 19.

The boys finished eighth overall. In the 1600m, Charles Henslee took fifth with a time of 4:45.33. In the 3200, Conner Alexander took fourth with a time of 10:40.04.

In the 4X100 Relay, the Badgers took fifth with a time of 46.75. The team included Noah Walker, Dillion Mai, Tully Reinhardt and Braeden Blackmore.

In the high jump, Braeden Blackmore took third with a jump at 5’ 6. Riley Petesch took fifth in the triple jump with a new personal record of 39’ 3.5.

For girls track, the Badgers finished sixth overall. Camille Ussher took fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:31.85. Mia Blackmore took third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 18.16.

In the 4X100 relay, the Badgers took fifth with a time of 59.36. The team included Addie Heigel, Kimberly Lucas, Sierra Petesch and Brooke Petesch.

In field events, Asha Abubakari took first in the shot put with a throw of 36’ 4, second in the discus with a throw of 109’ 04, a new PR. For jumps, Abubakari also took third in triple jump with a new PR at 32’ 8.5, and second in long jump at 15’ 5.

In pole vault, Morgan Burt took first with a vault of 9’ 0.

CHENEY — The Badgers held their own at the Van Kuren Invite in Cheney, Wash., on April 16.

The girls track team took ninth and boys finished 12th out of 40 other schools of all classifications. Timberlake was the only other Intermountain League team present at the meet.

For the girls, in the 800m Camille Ussher took second with a time of 2:29:32. Mia Blackmore finished eighth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.68. Badgers also took eighth in the 4X200m relay with a time of 1:58.87. The relay team included Mia Blackmore, Sydney Hinthorn, Camille Ussher and Morgan Burt.

In field events, Asha Abubakari took first in the shot put with a throw of 36–10.0. She also took fourth in the discus with a throw of 107–11, a new personal record. In the long jump, Abubakari took 10th with a jump of 14–03.5.

In the pole vault, Morgan Burt took second at 9–06. The height was also cleared by the first-place athlete.

For the boys, Charles Henslee took fifth in the 1600m, with a time of 4:42.84. It was a tight race with third through fifth place finishing within a second.

In the 4X100m relay, the Badgers took sixth with a time of 46.52. The team included Braeden Blackmore, Noah Walkers, Tully Reinhardt and Dillion Mai. This race was also tight, with third through sixth crossing the finish line in 46 seconds with some change. Second place finished in the 45th second.

In the 4X200m relay, the Badgers finished seventh with a time of 1:40.56. The relay team included Dillion Mai, Cleo Henslee, Noah Walker and Levi Bonnell.

In the shot put Dillion Mai took fifth with a throw of 42–02.5. In the triple jump, Levi Bonnell took eighth with a jump of 39–00.

Badgers beat Spartans at IML double dual

SPIRIT LAKE — The Bonners Ferry Track team competed in the Intermountain League double dual at Timberlake High School on Wednesday, April 13.

The Badgers raced against 3A Intermountain League foes Timberlake and Priest River, with the Badgers beating Priest River overall.

Ridge Williams took third in the 800m with a time of 2:16.74, a new personal record.

Charles Henslee took first place in the 1600m with a time of 4:58.28, and took second in the 400m with a time of 54.94.

Connor Alexander took first in the 3200m run with a time of 10:49.97.

In the field events, Dillion Mai took second in the shot put with a throw of 42–11.50 (PR).

In high jump, the boys took the top three spots. Braeden Blackmore stayed consistent taking first with a jump of 5–09, Asher Williams took second with a new PR of 5–08 and Riley Petesch took third with a jump of 5–06. Petesch also took second in the triple jump at 37–10. Levi Bonnell took third in the triple jump with a 37–10 as well.

In the 400m, Sydney Hinthorn took second with a new PR at 1:07.98. Camille Ussher won the 800m with a time of 2:34.71. In the 3200m, Ceci Roemer took second with a time of 13:52.04 and Syndey Beckle finished third at 13:55.91.

Mia Blackmore took first in the 100m hurdles at 17:80.

In field events, Asha Abubakari took first in shot put with a throw of 35–11.50, first in the discus with a throw of 104–02 and first in triple jump with a jump of 30–08.

Helena Rae came second in shot put with a throw of 31–07, a new PR. Morgan Burt took first in the pole vault with 9–06.

In the long jump, three Badgers finished in the top four, with Abubakari taking second with 14–07, Eika Willis taking third at 13–05.5 and Brooke Petesch taking fourth at 13–02.5.
