Chad Workman, owner of Bonners Ferry Funeral Home and chief deputy coroner of Boundary County, is running for Boundary County coroner.

“I believe I have the qualifications necessary to be Boundary County coroner,” Workman said. “I am currently the chief deputy coroner of our county, and I have worked closely with both the medical examiner of Polk County in Oregon for three years, as well as the Yakima County coroner for five years.”

In 2021, Workman attended the International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners training symposium and received advanced training in death investigation. In addition to his experience of working with coroners’ offices, Workman has more than six years of higher education culminating in two degrees, biology and mortuary science, which included courses in advanced anatomy and physiology and microbiology.

“I have dedicated the last 10 years helping families through some of the most difficult times of their lives,” he said. “My desire is to continue to serve the deceased and their loved ones of our community with the compassion and respect that they deserve.”

If elected coroner, Workman has said he will continue to enhance the effectiveness and level of service of the Boundary County Coroner’s Office. He will also work to receive certification from the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators which promotes the highest standards of practice for medicolegal death investigators allowing him to better support the Boundary County community.

“I will also continue to work hand in hand with our police and sheriff’s offices to assist with death investigations,” he said. “I would be honored to receive our community’s support as a candidate for Boundary County coroner."
