Drake seeks Boundary County Assessor

| April 28, 2022 1:00 AM

Olivia Drake is running unopposed for Boundary County Assessor. Currently the chief deputy assessor, Drake has been the deed processor and cadastral analyst for the past eight years.

“I plan to maintain an experienced and competent department as the current assessor, Dave Ryals, looks toward retiring after years of dedicated service,“ Drake said.

A lifelong North Idahoan, having grown up in the Naples area, Drake said her parents were also raised in Boundary County. Her dad, Jeff Schauble, worked in the timber industry and her mom, Mona, was a stay-at-home mom before becoming a certified dental assistant.

“I obtained an associate’s degree from technical school after graduating from Bonners Ferry High School and am always learning,” Drake said.

Drake said she and her husband, Lawrence ‘Scooter’ Drake live in Paradise Valley, where they grow trees and alfalfa on their small family acreage.

Outside from work, Drake is passionate about outdoor recreation and is dedicated to the community. She has volunteered with many organizations over the years including the local Republican Central Committee, 9B Trails, 4-H, Boundary Backcountry Access, and Beta Sigma Phi, as well as various committees.

Drake said she is running for several reasons and notes that she is qualified and capable.

”Don’t just take my word for it, instead I plan to earn your trust to maintain an equitable assessment process,” she said. “I will continue to support the employees in the Assessor’s Department who are very knowledgeable in their individual positions. This includes keeping up with local market trends and changes in Idaho Code and administrative rules.

“My goal is to ensure that the Assessor’s Office is accountable and open to the public,” Drake said.

She encouraged those with questions to contact her at odrake@boundarycountyid.org or 208-267-3301.
