Jennifer Economu seeks county treasurer post
Jennifer Economu is running, unopposed, for Boundary County treasurer. Economu has been the chief deputy treasurer since January 2015. Economu decided to run after Treasurer Susan Larson decided to retire at the end of the term. “She has done a wonderful job for the county and is looking forward to retirement,” Economu said.
From North Idaho, Economu was born in Moscow, and her family moved to Naples when she was 8 years old. Economu graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1995 and shortly afterward, married her high school sweetheart, Steven Economu. They have resided in Moyie Springs their entire adult lives and have raised boys, Shane and Spencer.
Outside from work, Economu’s family enjoys camping, kayaking and being outdoors in the region. Her husband and sons are archery and rifle hunters, fishermen and also novice snowmobilers.
Economu said, “As for me, I'd much rather stay in by the cozy warm fire during our colder months.”
Economu said she has worked since she graduated. “I joined the workforce straight out of high school and gained a wealth of knowledge and a fierce work ethic with every position I held,” she said.
Economu said she has had the pleasure of working and learning alongside Larson for the past seven years.
“The Treasurer's office has been an educational and satisfying experience,” Economu said. “I look forward to streamlining a few practices and will strive to continue to provide excellent services to the constituents of Boundary County.”
