BONNERS FERRY — April has been a busy month for us, and we’re about to head into an even busier season in our building! There are so many fun events coming up, so keep an eye out for reminders on our social media. You can find us on Facebook at Mt. Hall. Make sure to also follow Boundary County School District 101 on Facebook.

One particularly important event to note is kindergarten registration. It will be taking place at Valley View Elementary on Friday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. I am attaching the registration link so that parents can have a head start on the registration process. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeM5sfuP0cKx0y3RnrHJE9UD3J5-Ji9mQg9_NAxyne74MnpHg/viewform

I’ll keep my portion of this month’s article short because some helpful and amazing fourth graders approached me this month to ask if they could start a school newspaper. They wrote a persuasive paper and created a mock up of what it would look like and what sorts of articles they would feature (they did this on their own time), and so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for them to showcase their work!

Mt. Hall News

By Hollie Gross, Paisley Gross, and Mia Merritt - fourth grade

Hi! Our names are Mia, Paisley, and Hollie. We think that there should be a school newspaper because that would inform parents and the town what is going on at our school.

For instance, in kindergarten they are working on making hot air balloons and saying where they would go if they had one. Then in first grade, they are working on adding tens to two digit numbers. In reading, they are working on different sounds and words.

Then in second grade, they are working on learning about different kinds of rocks. They even got to crush geodes and see the crystals inside of rocks. Also, in third grade, they have butterflies in class and are working on identifying butterflies by looking, observing, and learning.

In fourth grade, we are working on biographies of famous people who inspire us.

Finally, in fifth grade in math, they are working on fractions, volume, and 2D shapes.

Here are the Citizens of the Month for March:

First grade: Violet Pote, Atigun Schneider

Second grade: Malia Yocum, Carly Mackey

Third grade: Kian Pope, Kenny Reeves

Fourth grade: Hollie Gross, Paisley Gross, Mia Merritt

Fifth grade: Autumn Duffin, Nevaeh Murphy, Torrie Navarro, AnnaRae Turner, Emmy Winkelseth

Great job, Wildcats!

We hope to write the Mt. Hall news again!
