The Herald headline read: “B.F. Post Burns; Fire Losses Estimated At $50,000 Figure.” Jim Wadel and Dale Dirks were co-owners of the company when it burned on December 6, 1973. The fire occurred on a Friday; and on Saturday, 30 men turned out to get the mess cleaned up. By the following Tuesday, uprights for a new building were already in the ground.
