DAV post receives huge donation at fair
BONNERS FERRY — Disabled American Veterans received a generous donation at the 102nd Boundary County Fair last week.
Deb Woods, Idaho State Madame Auxiliary President of the Federal Order of Eagles, donated $5,000 to the DAV Post No. 28 of Bonners Ferry. Woods told the Bonners Ferry Herald that she and others raised the funds over the past several years by selling beef jerky at fairs and other events across North Idaho.
“I appreciate everyone that bought and supported me in this venture,” she said.
She originally was going to use the funds to help purchase medical equipment, but was unable to do so.
“It is important to take care of our vets. They are why we have the freedoms we have,” she said.
DAV Chapter Commander Mike Spurgeon accepted the donation. Ben Apo, VFW commander for Post 3622 and DAV treasure, was present as well.
